Real Wedding: Ilene & Seth

March 11th, 2013

OK, can I first say that I love this couple? It was obvious from the first moment I met Ilene and Seth. They are totally and completely in love with each other. It’s the way they look at each other. You can see in their eyes that they have truly found their soul mate. I am so happy that I was able to be a part of their big day.

Ilene had some really awesome ideas for her wedding. She wanted to incorporate lots of things that were truly “them.” This is how every wedding SHOULD be, but that isn’t always the case. They gave their guests pinwheels to use as they were walking down the aisle after being introduced as husband and wife, which was the perfect way to bring in a little fun after a very touching and intimate ceremony.

Her gown was stunning and absolutely perfect on her. The bridesmaids dresses were perfect for a late summer wedding. The colors were purple and green with an outdoorsy feel. Each guest took home a small potted herb as the favor. I loved them! You know me and practical favors!

Seth and his friends are all very musically inclined. I bet they have a blast getting together and jamming. He asked if he could play a few songs during dinner because he had something special planned. That something special was a song he had written especially for Ilene. Talk about a touching moment!

Here are a few pictures from their wedding shot by Megan Stahl Photography. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did! I think you’ll agree that they are perfect for each other.

Seth & Ilene – We’ve got to get together again soon! I think more Mexican food is in our future :)

Real Wedding: Noi & Nick

February 25th, 2013

Noi and Nick were married at the Mansion on 8.11.12. When I first met them, I couldn’t help but notice their incredible sense of style. I was so excited for their wedding. I knew it would be a direct reflection of them. They kept the palette simple – mostly white with a few accents of slate blue. I loved the vintage details she brought in to the decor.

As you can tell from the photos, they are madly in love and had a gorgeous wedding. We are so lucky to have had them at the Mansion and now as part of our family. Congratulations Nick & Noi!

Real Wedding: Shannon & Jesse

October 25th, 2012

You know how I said I get really attached to some brides. Shannon is one of them. We talked just about every week. We were wedding BFFs. It doesn’t hurt that her groom, Jesse, was pretty awesome too. Throw in their little girl, Sophia, and they are quite the little family. She is the CUTEST little thing you ever did see!

I realized after looking through the pictures that there were barely any set up photos. They are all of people. Probably because they have some pretty great people surrounding them. From their parents to their bridal party to their grandparents and other friends, this group really tore this place up! It was easy to look past all the little details to all the dancing and laughter.

You can click on the photos to get a larger view, but don’t judge my blurry photos. I am not a professional photographer!!

I truly wish Shannon and Jesse the best in their marriage. They already have the perfect little family. Now their perfect family has become part of ours.

Real Wedding: Jamie & Wes

October 17th, 2012

Jamie and Wes came the whole way from Florida just to spend their wedding day with us. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and I loved having them here. One of the other main reasons why I loved this couple so much was that they were completely relaxed and ready to enjoy their weekend. Their bridal party was ready to help them with that too. You could tell they just love to be together and really cared about making sure Wes and Jamie’s day was perfect.

We are so happy to have Jamie and Wes as part of the Mansion family. Come back and visit us again soon!!

Real Wedding: McKenzie & Josh

September 12th, 2012

McKenzie and Josh seriously have the sweetest family ever. That’s probably why they are so sweet themselves. Honestly, I would have done anything for these folks because they truly appreciated every little thing and every person involved in making this day happen. Through out the night, I was probably asked how I was and if I was ok about a zillion times. They really wanted each and every person to be as happy as they were.

It was a small wedding, only about 70 guests, but the amount of love that surrounded this couple was that of 700. McKenzie’s mom, Michelle, went above and beyond to make sure every little detail was exactly what her daughter wanted.

They really made the Mansion their own by bringing family photos to hang on the walls and decorated every mantel and shelf with things from the couple’s past.

The cake was gorgeous, right?

Ceremony music was provided by Steven Vance. They were amazing as usual!

Proud papa about to walk her down the aisle!

It was a little bit warm that day. And by a little bit, I mean it was probably one of the hottest, most humid days we had all summer. Rev. Larry Goyda of Meaningful Marriages officiated the ceremony and landed Josh a hand.

McKenzie and Josh have a beautiful little girl who was the cutest flower girl ever! Look at that little frilly dress!!

She was absolutely stunning and her gown fit her perfectly! It really did look like it was made for her.

I am so excited for McKenzie and Josh. They already have such a cute little family, so this was really just the icing on the cake… Welcome to the family!!

These amazing photos were done by our very own, Megan Stahl! Check her out here!

Real Wedding: Sindu & Shawn 6.30.12

September 5th, 2012

We always work hard for our brides and grooms. But when it is one of our own, we really kick into high gear. Shawn and Sindu have been family for longer than most couples. Shawn, our B&B General Manager and resident go to guy for all technological needs, got married on June 30 this year and we couldn’t be happier for them. Not to mention that Sindu has amazing taste and the details were spectacular!

I loved the colors, coral & gold, which were perfect for a summer wedding. Each detail made such a statement and there was something to look at where ever you glanced. Mosaic Inc. has some amazing options and they mixed up the linens throughout the space. I love when couples do this because it adds a little something extra. Bill Chisnell Productions did a fantastic job with the floral and other decorative pieces. And the food from Big Catering was INCREDIBLE, as always!

Sindu and Shawn had a traditional Hindu ceremony in her family’s temple the day before so they were able to really relax the morning of the reception. It was pretty hard to keep him from trying to work and set-up for the event. But after a few good lectures, we were able to get him to go up to the bridal suite and watch some TV. I am so glad I didn’t work here before my own wedding or I would have been doing the same thing.

Once the festivities kicked off, they were both able to relax and soak it all in. There was so many people dancing and laughing. It was just full of love and that is what a wedding day should be about. Check out some photos from the day in this little slideshow I created. The photos were done by Megan Stahl, our resident website photographer. Congrats Sindu & Shawn! We love you!

Real Wedding: Meloney & Kevin 6.23.12

August 27th, 2012

You know what I love about this couple? Their passion and love for life. You can just see how much they love one another and how much they are loved by their family and friends. Meloney and Kevin are truly two of the sweetest people I have met. I consider myself lucky to have had the chance to work with them. I loved that Meloney had her daughter, Taylor, as her Maid of Honor and Kevin had his son, Rome, as his best man.

I have to say that Meloney has impeccable taste. Her gown was gorgeous. The decor was simple, yet elegant. Everything came together so perfectly.

The ceremony took place in our side lawn and we had some pretty spectacular weather. It was a little warm that day, but we got through the ceremony without melting too much!

Kevin’s smile is infectious. Even if he is only smiling here to help hold back the tears…

They took some time between the ceremony and reception to get some portraits. It is obvious that these two are meant for each other.

Then it was on to dinner and dancing. Taylor and Rome gave speeches and they were so heartfelt, even I teared up! And let me just say that these folks tore up the dance floor!!! They taught me how to “wobble” the night before, but I was too chicken to get out there and do it the day of the wedding. They were way too good at it!

I had a blast and it sure looked like they did too! I truly wish these two nothing but happiness! They deserve every second of it! Congratulations Meloney and Kevin! Welcome to the Mansion family!

This blog would not have been possible without the extremely beautiful and talented Jen McKen. Her photos captured every second of love and laughter!!

Real Wedding: Kristie & Turadg 6.16.12

July 19th, 2012

Kristie and Turadg came to the Mansion wanting something a bit different for their wedding day. They didn’t want something soft and romantic. Instead they wanted a rockabilly themed wedding with lots of DIY projects and lots of color.

I honestly couldn’t think of a better match than these two. They met in line waiting for the iPhone and the rest is history. Their day was full of family, close friends and so much love. Kristie was an absolutely gorgeous bride and Turadg wasn’t looking too shabby himself. Bill Chisnell Productions really had some fun with the colors of this wedding. Just look at how cute the ceremony space turned out!

The cake wasn’t quite right, so Turadg had to fix it. It didn’t match the current state of facial hair, so he quickly fixed it so it would be accurate. This picture was primarily taken (with my iPhone) as proof that I didn’t ruin the cake if the topper tumbled, but he did a great job! I was surprised at how steady his hands were only about an hour before the ceremony began!

It turned out great!

And can I just say they were a ton of fun too? I mean, look at this bridal party! I’m thinking they were having a good time… Who wouldn’t be having a good time with teal Chuck Taylor’s on?

They participated in the traditional Persian “sugar ceremony” to celebrate Turadg’s heritage. The couple sits while a piece of silk or fabric is held over their heads. Then relatives and loved ones rub two hardened cones made of sugar over the fabric to “shower them in sweetness.” It was so sweet, quite literally!

Mr. & Mrs. Aleahmad!

Isn’t she just stunning?! I loved all of her accessories. She really thought everything through to the last little detail! The teal crinoline peeking out of the bottom of her gown was the perfect touch to give her the “something blue” she needed!

Just look at the adorable table settings the bride made for each and every table! She used chalkboard paint and fresh herbs and spices to give the tables the rustic charm she wanted. And I LOVE the lace overlays and table linens provided by Mosaic. The color scheme was fantastically brilliant!

Congratulation Kristie and Turadg! I am so excited to welcome you to the Mansion Family!

*Disclaimer: I was the photographer for these shots. I am NOT a photographer, so don’t just me by my photos. Just look past the blurriness to the happiness!*

Real Wedding: Gina & Adam 6.2.12

July 12th, 2012

The following events took place on April 26, 2012:

“Hi! I was wondering if we would be able to come and tour the Mansion for a wedding?”

“Sure! Have you set a date yet?”

“June 2″

“Of this year?”

“OK, then. When would you like to come in?”

“Well we are actually right down the street. Could we come today? Like now?”

“Um… OK. Come on up!”

That was the first time I spoke with Gina. To say that she has a bubbly personality is an understatement. This girl is hilarious! She has so much pizazz and charisma. It is infectious. With just a month to plan, it was quite the whirl wind. But we got it done and everyone had a blast! I guess that is one of the bonuses of being a Mansion Bride.

They had a small, intimate ceremony in the foyer. Gina’s son, also the one and only member of their bridal party, played “Here Comes the Bride” for her entrance. Even though there were only 40 people at the wedding, her family made enough cookies to feed 200. And her mom’s homemade biscotti? TO. DIE. FOR. I should know. She sent me home with a huge doggy bag full of it. And I ate every last crumb.

Before dinner, Adam’s brother and Gina’s best friend gave the speeches. The amount of love and laughter in the room was amazing. Then, Gina got a hold of the mic. Again, I can only reiterate that she is hilarious. Lastly, Adam wanted to say a few words. He is pretty quiet and laid-back, quite the opposite of Gina. When he talked about how much he loves her, it was like there was no one else in the room. You could just see it on his face. And you could see it on mine when the tears started rolling.

Adam and Gina also now share an anniversary date with Gina’s grandparents, who were also there front and center. I should say that 70 years of marriage deserves a bit of recognition, so they shared a dance while everyone looked on with admiration. Shortly after, Gina and Adam cut the cake. This is when Gina’s true personality came out. She proceeded to lip sync every single word to “Love on Top” by Beyonce, which was the song playing during the cake cutting. She’s a hoot!

Considering everyone was dancing up a storm and I saw quite a few dance moves I’ve never seen before, I would count this one as a success.

Congrats Gina & Adam! You were truly a pleasure to work with and I hope we get to see you again soon!!

Real Wedding: Rachel & Jamie 6.9.12

July 5th, 2012

I made her promise to keep emailing me. Then we hugged it out. Rachel has honestly become a friend through this process and I can’t wait for her and Jamie to come back to Pittsburgh to visit. I will miss her weekly (sometimes daily) emails, but hopefully that means that we will move past the emails to drinks when they are back in town to visit. Who am I kidding? That is most definitely what it means.

I loved everything about their wedding. It was sweet and fun. There were a ton of DIY touches that really made the wedding a reflection of the two of them. Not only that, but Jamie’s dad made homemade wine to give as favors and a friend of Jamie’s brewed homemade beer to be served at the wedding. I can testify that both were amazing! Not that I drank it at the wedding. They actually gave me some to take home and try. I promise I wasn’t drinking on the job… only after!

Rachel and all her bridesmaids stayed at the Mansion the night before the wedding. This made the morning of her wedding so relaxing and calm because they did not have to run all over the city to get their hair and makeup done prior to the wedding.

A girl after my own heart… Love these shoes!

One of the reasons I love Rachel so much is that she is always so full of energy and so fun. She had this same outlook the entire weekend!

All loaded up and ready to head off to Heinz Chapel where they held their ceremony.

They had a very natural decor and utilized succulents in the centerpieces and as accent pieces. I just love this and think it is a great alternative to the typical completely floral arrangements.

I loved this unique version of the guest book! Each guest picked a word, circled it and signed their name with a little message. What a great way to get advice from all the friends and family that they love so much!

Burnt Almond Torte from Prantl’s? Yes please!

You can just tell how much they love each other. This is what it is all about. This is what makes my job so worth it. This is why I always feel so honored to be a part of this day.
