I promise I still love you…

October 10th, 2012

As you have probably noticed, the posts have been kind of sparse lately. Yes, I know. My duty as a blogger has been pushed to the wayside. We’ve been extremely busy this summer. Not that I am complaining, I love what I do and I love my brides. Sometimes making sure their days are the most memorable and perfect days of their lives takes precedence over writing. And that will remain my focus for the next 6 weeks since we have one more stretch of weddings before we wrap up the 2012 season. Things have FINALLY started to slow down since we are almost fully booked for the 2013 wedding season. This is short lived because we are gearing up to start consultations and bookings for 2014 in the next few weeks. Before it really kicks in gear again, I am hoping that I can get caught up and get some of our past events up! I have a ton of great weddings to share with you from the 2012 season and can’t wait to have the time to sit and sort through the photos to make sure you are really getting the full experience. I’ve had so many great ideas for blogs, just no time to sit and write. And I am not the type to half-ass something, so you get left with nothing.

While I am notifying you of my hiatus for this week, my solemn vow to you is that I will get caught up in the coming weeks and stop neglecting you. In the meantime, I will leave you with this photo. I told you I had some good stuff!!

Friday Finds 6.29.12

June 29th, 2012

You know what my find is today? My bed. It is going to be so comfy later tonight! We are prepping for a wedding here. But not just any wedding… one of our very own got married this afternoon and is holding his reception with his lovely wife here tomorrow. Since he is the one who gets the grounds ready for your picture perfect backgrounds, that fell to me today. So after going non-stop since 10am this morning (not to mention my pre-work ritual at home!), I didn’t have time to post a find today. I am exhausted. And I will be back to do it all over again tomorrow. So with that said, I am sorry for the lack of inspiration, but my brain has officially stopped working for the day.

I hope you all stayed cool today and have some fun plans for the weekend! See you Monday!

Friday Finds 5.25.12

May 25th, 2012

I found these adorable favors and fell in love. Skeleton keys are a super cute way to add in a bit of rustic flair to your wedding decor. Unless you plan on buying the skeleton keys in bulk, which can get pricey especially since this is a huge trend right now, you may be looking for a cute alternative.

Let’s talk about why I love these favors…

1. They are very practical because they combine the favor and the escort card into one.

2. They are actually made of plantable paper, so your guests can just plant them and watch them grow! What a great way to remind them of you and your future intended after the wedding!

3. They are not something personalized with your wedding date. No one is going to use that after the wedding making them a waste of your time and money.

4. They are super cute!!

You can find them on the Etsy site for a cute little shop, Recycled Ideas. If these aren’t your thing, check out the other items in their shop. I am sure you’ll find something!

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone! Thank a soldier (or ten)!

Friday Finds 5.18.12

May 18th, 2012

While perusing Pinterest, I found this adorable alternative card box. Seeing that so many brides are looking for cute and unique ways to add detail to their weddings, I figured this was a perfect thing to post. This would be super cute to keep in your house afterward as a place to keep your mail and bills as well! This one is from Bridal Musings and they even explain how to do a DIY version :)

Happy Friday!!

Happy Friday!!

May 4th, 2012

I wanted to share a photo from one of last year’s weddings that I love. It’s completely adorable! It makes me happy and excited for this upcoming season. A week from today, we will begin our 2012 wedding season. And I can’t wait.

Pops of color, part 2

September 8th, 2011

Last week I posted different options for pops of color in your attire, except I left out one MAJOR thing that can include color. The dress!! This seems to be getting more and more popular and I found a few that I want to share with you.

This whimsical gown by Vera Wang would be the perfect pop for a fun-loving bride!

Just a touch of blush for this one… this time from the White by Vera Wang Collection at Davd’s Bridal.

Why not make your gown your something blue? This gown by Romona Keveza can be found at Kleinfeld Bridal. Maybe you can get on Say Yes to the Dress!

Or maybe you just can’t imagine not wearing a white gown. This number by Stephanie James has a little flair with the purple and pink tulle peeking out at the bottom. I can definitely see a bright and colorful birdcage veil with this one!

Just remember, there is really not right or wrong when it comes to weddings. It is YOUR day. Do what you want. Don’t let anyone talk to out of what you really want :)

Pops of color

September 4th, 2011

All white is not suiting for every bride. Well, for a LOT of brides. It completely washed me out. I am pale even when I go tanning. One good thing is that it is becoming much more popular to utilize color in wedding attire in many different ways.

One way that is largely popular (and also a personal favorite!) is colorful shoes. They can match your wedding color or just be your favorite. They can be as funky as you want or as simple. Here are a few favorites:

Kate Spade

Nina Forbes

You can also keep your eyes out for my Tuesday Shoesday posts, in which I post my favorite for the week. I’m all about fun shoes for weddings if you can’t tell :)

Another way to embrace color on your wedding day would be in your jewelry. Nothing says unconventional bride like a pop of color around your neck!

Bel Monili

 Bijoux TRE PERLE

You can sport a little color in your hair as well. Whether it’s a veil, fascinator, flower or headband, you can incorporate just the right amount of color to keep things interesting.

Sunshine and Carousels

PeacockPixys

Another option would be to carry a colorful clutch. After all, every girl needs a place to put her lip gloss and phone and I don’t recommend sticking it down the front of your gown… not very lady-like, is it now?

FuchstandBelle

ModDiva

If none of those tickle your fancy, you can always add a belt to your gown. This is an option that allows you to stay traditional for the ceremony and then switch it up for the reception.

FloralJewellry

SparkleSM

Now get out there and add some color to your look! Side note: With the exception of the shoes, I found everything on Etsy. If you click on the photos themselves, you will be taken directly to the page… just in case you want to buy :)

Friday Finds 7.29.11

July 29th, 2011

I’ve been gone. You’ve missed me I am sure. However, I was celebrating my own wedding and honeymoon so I don’t really feel bad :) I had prepared a few Tuesday Shoesday posts to keep you busy while I was out, but never got time to write a few Finds. So I am back. This week’s Friday Finds is actually more like things I “found” at my wedding. So I title this “In Hindsight.”

1. We had small bamboo favors for all of our guests. See the photo below courtesy of the Mansion at Maple Heights.

Super cute, right? However, in hindsight, they weren’t as practical as I had planned. You’ve heard me go on and on about how I value practical favors. Something the guests can take home and enjoy as a memento of our wedding, but without our names and date all over it. And it did look perfect, but small containers filled with little blue rocks and slightly wobbly plants and alcohol do not mix. There were men down everywhere. I found lone bamboo laying in the library, on the patio, in the tent. Not to mention the blue rocks I heard the staff at the Mansion were cleaning up for the next week. I do think this could be successful with a few little tweaks to the package. So if you are planning on similar favors or something that has the potential to be messy, think through all the possibilities beforehand.

2. We had two Best Men and two Matrons of Honor. Plus, my MIL wanted to say a little something before she gave the blessing. Now, I’ve been to weddings (and in them) where one of those speeches goes for 15 minutes full of inside jokes that no one gets and you can hear growling stomachs in the background. And then there are 2 more speeches after that. We did not want this. We briefed our speech-makers and asked them to keep it to about 3-5 minutes. Despite this, we thought it would be a good idea to split up the toasts so no one would be sitting through 20 minutes of talking.

In hindsight, this turned out to be awful. Our featured speakers listened to us and kept it short, sweet and to the point. They all did a fantastic job. The problem was when we had them speak. The blessing and two toasts were before dinner and the last two were supposed to be after dinner. One thing we did not count on was the people wandering off after dinner to explore the Mansion or the grounds. Unfortunately, I think half of our guests missed the second set of speeches. However, Joey and I did not, which I guess is the most important thing.

3. Banks do not  like it when you try to deposit checks with “Mr. & Mrs. Pope” or “Joe and Nicole Pope” when one of you is listed as having a different last name. I get it. I would be pretty upset if a check was deposited in another person’s account with a different name listed in the To section. It’s not something I think a lot of people think about when writing those checks. They are just excited to write Mr. & Mrs. because they are so happy for you. This is more of a tip to the gift-givers, either just write the groom’s name or write the bride’s maiden name. Of course, this is just a slight hold-up and a pretty easy fix, but let’s make it easy on the newlyweds. So in hindsight, I will never write “Mr. & Mrs. So-and-so” on any checks to a new couple again regardless of how cute it looks.

Honestly, my wedding day was absolutely perfect. I had awesome vendors, so if something did go wrong I had no clue. I’ll be posting more later with some photos of details, location, etc. But for now, keep these Finds in mind.

Tuesday Shoesday, Edition 2

Ivanka pair of these… ok, that was cheesy… But these heels by Ivanka Trump are far from cheesy. Spectacular would be a better word.

Friday Finds 7.8.11

July 8th, 2011

I swear, these last few weeks have gone by so quickly. As my wedding quickly approaches and I am remembering little DIY projects I said I was going to do for the big day, I think “how can I ever get it all done?” I love crafting and DIY projects. I get such a sense of accomplishment when I am finished. As I was searching for a cute idea for pew decorations at my church, I came across this DIY Tutorial by Project Wedding.

It looks so easy and inexpensive, I might just have to give it a go! I will be sure to post pictures when they are done!
